Thatch 2027 Open Enrollment Guide for Current Members
If your employer offered Thatch benefits in 2026, this guide will take you through everything you need to know about setting up your benefits for 2027.
If you are an employer offering health benefits to your employees, we recommend the Thatch Open Enrollment Employer Renewal Guide.
What is Open Enrollment?
Open Enrollment is the annual period when you can enroll in, renew, or change your health benefits for the next year. If you are an employee who was enrolled on Thatch in 2026, or offered the option to enroll in 2026, your deadline is November 29.
When is Open Enrollment period?
Open enrollment takes place from November 2 to November 29* when employees can enroll in health benefits for the following year. Changes you make take effect January 1, 2027.
*Note: Your employer may have an earlier invite date, so check your dashboard for your specific window. If you missed your enrollment window or need more time, please contact our support team for assistance.
What if I missed the November 29 deadline?
If you haven't made your 2027 elections by November 29, please log in and complete your enrollment as soon as possible. If you are currently enrolled in Thatch coverage for 2026, your insurance plan(s) will automatically renew for 2027 once enrollment closes. Please note that your premium amount will change for 2027. If your 2026 plan is unavailable in 2027, we will enroll you in the most similar alternative plan.
If you declined coverage for 2026, you'll need to provide documentation of a qualifying life event in order to get enrolled in coverage for 2027.
How do I review my options and complete my enrollment for 2027?
Log in to your Thatch account.
Confirm your personal information.
See your 2027 health budget and plan options.
Make your 2027 selections and submit any required documents before the November 29, 2026 deadline.
Can I keep my same plan for 2027?
Yes, if your insurance company still offers the same plan in 2027 you keep your 2026 plan. Some plans change may names, networks, or pricing each year. If the same plan is not available, we’ll enroll in the closest equivalent plan that your carrier offers.
When you log into your Thatch account during Open Enrollment, we will let you know if your current plan is still available for 2027, and if there are any changes to how it operates.
If your carrier is exiting from Thatch, learn more here.
How do I keep my 2026 plan for 2027?
Log in to your Thatch dashboard and enter the benefits selection flow from the Open Enrollment banner at the top of your screen. From there, you'll be able to review how your employer's health budget and plan costs will change for 2027.
If everything looks good there, click ‘Keep current plans’, then click ‘Enroll’, and you're all set!
What happens to my current plan if I decide to stay on it?
Your coverage continues through December 31, 2026. If you choose to stay on the same plan for 2027, your deductible and out-of-pocket maximums will reset on January 1, 2027.
Do I need to cancel my current plan?
It depends! If you're sticking with the same insurance company, we can get you switched over, but if you pick a plan with a new insurance company (or decide to decline your 2027 benefits entirely), you'll need to call and cancel your 2026 health benefits plan before December 15, 2026.
Missing that deadline could result in you being charged the January 2027 premium for your old 2026 plan.
You'll see a reminder to call and cancel on your Thatch dashboard, if applicable.
How do I switch plans for 2026?
If you'd like to change plans for 2027, you'll need to log into your Thatch account during your enrollment window and follow the open enrollment banner. From the plan review screen, you can explore new plans to find coverage that works better for you.
Based on the plan(s) you pick, there may be some follow-up steps for you to complete after submitting your enrollment – you can find these on your Thatch dashboard.
Can I speak to someone to help me decide between plans?
You can schedule a call with a member of our licensed advisor team directly from your Thatch dashboard. This option will only be available while your enrollment window is open, so if you have questions, make sure to set up a call before finalizing your plan selections.
When you log into your Thatch dashboard, enter the plan selection flow by clicking the Open Enrollment banner. Once there, click 'Help & Support' on the bottom left. You will be able to schedule time with one of our brokers by selecting the 'I need help deciding between plans’ option.
Can I decline coverage for 2026? If so, how do I decline?
Yes. Thatch is an employer-sponsored benefit, and it's your call to make whether that benefit works for you and your family.
If you'd like to decline coverage, log in to your Thatch dashboard, click on the open enrollment banner, and walk through the setup process until your employer's allowance amount is displayed. There will be an option to 'Decline coverage.'
If you are currently enrolled in 2026 coverage and you took no action during Open Enrollment, we auto-renew you onto coverage for 2027.
I've selected a plan but need to choose a different one or cancel my selection. How can I change plans or cancel?
If you have completed your enrollment for 2027 and need to either make a change to your enrollment or cancel, you can do so from your dashboard. On the member dashboard under "Your plans," you'll see a line: "Made a mistake? You have until <date> to change your plans or dependents." Clicking it drops you straight back into the shopping flow — no support action needed.
Once you submit your enrollment, Thatch takes immediate action to enroll you in your plan and pay for your first month of coverage. Once Thatch has processed your enrollment and paid on your behalf, you will be responsible for cancelling your coverage directly with your insurance company, and securing a refund if needed.
Follow these steps to making any changes to your submitted enrollment:
Attempt to reshop using the "Made a mistake" button.
Reach out to support if you hit any road blocks.
Contact the originally selected carrier to terminate, if necessary.
Please keep in mind that we can only make changes to your 2027 enrollment until December 5. After December 5, we cannot guarantee that your request will take effect by January 1, 2027.
