Which life changes do NOT count as a qualifying life event?

Not every change in your life opens up a window to update your coverage — only certain events do, and a few common ones often get mistaken for qualifying life events. Here's what doesn't count:

  • Canceling a plan because it's gotten too expensive

  • Losing coverage because premiums went unpaid

  • Getting a raise or a change in hours

  • Moving somewhere with the same plan options available

  • A premium increase at renewal

  • A doctor leaving your network

  • Getting sick or becoming pregnant

  • A pending immigration filing

If you're not sure whether your situation qualifies, reach out to Ask Thatch, and we'll help you figure it out.
